Maria Papaefstathiou

MARIA PAPAEFSTATHIOU was born in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Maria graduated in Law from University College London (UCL) in 2004 (LL.B).  In 2005 she graduated from UCL with an LL.M in European Law and went on to complete the Legal Practice Course (L.P.C.) at the College of Law in London.  Maria then completed a stage at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg.  

In 2008 she was admitted to the Cyprus Bar.  Maria joined the Litigation department of the firm in Civil Litigation and is primarily involved in disputes concerning banking and contractual matters. She also represents clients in employment disputes as well as claims relating to torts.  

She drafts legal opinions on these matters and represents clients in arbitration proceedings concerning banking disputes.  She is also involved in court proceedings in the UK as a specialized Cyprus Counsel, on behalf of clients.

Maria has contributed articles for a number of English language legal periodicals.

Main areas of practice:  Banking Litigation, Employment Law, Competition Law, European Law, Commercial Law, Media Law, Tort Law, Litigation, Contract Law.
